US President Donald Trump will meet with his Ukrainian counterpart this week. Volodymyr Zelensky as well as Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa at the NATO summit held in Ankara, Turkey. These talks are part of a new diplomatic initiative by Washington aimed at reviving discussions on several major international issues.

According to a senior US official, Donald Trump He will meet with Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday to discuss ways to end the war between Ukraine and Russia. The US administration believes the fighting has been at a standstill for several months and wants to revitalize diplomatic efforts.

Before this meeting, the US president is scheduled to speak on Tuesday with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, host of the NATO summit. He will also meet with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa before holding a press conference. The White House has not specified the topics that will be discussed with the Syrian leader.

The NATO summit will focus in particular on the war in Ukraine and strengthening the military capabilities of member countries. Donald Trump is expected to call on allies to further increase their defense spending and announce several multi-billion dollar military agreements.

This diplomatic development comes just days after a phone call between Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
