Saudi Arabia has released images showing damage caused by a projectile it attributes to Yemen’s Houthis, supported by Iran. A mosque and several buildings were hit.

Saudi authorities have made public videos documenting the destruction caused by the impact of a projectile on their territory. A mosque as well as several residential buildings are among the damaged structures.

Riyadh blames the strike on the Houthis, the Yemeni armed movement supported by Tehran. The Houthis, for their part, claim to have targeted a Saudi military base, not civilian areas.

The incident illustrates the ongoing tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, who continue to conduct offensive operations beyond Yemen’s borders despite diplomatic efforts in recent years to end the conflict.
