Trump will indeed attend the NATO summit in Türkiye despite tensions with his allies.

Le président américain Donald Trump will participate in the NATO summit of heads of state and government scheduled to take place in Turkey in early July. The announcement was made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, putting an end to the speculation surrounding the American leader's attendance.

This confirmation was met with relief in several allied capitals. Although US presidents traditionally attend NATO summits, doubts had arisen in recent months due to Donald Trump's repeated criticism of NATO.

The US president is particularly critical of certain partners for not providing sufficient support to the United States in its conflict with Iran. According to Marco Rubio, one of Trump's main sources of frustration is the refusal of some member states to allow US forces to use their military bases during times of crisis.

Speaking before Congress, the US Secretary of State nevertheless emphasized that Washington remained fully committed to the Alliance. He stated that the summit in Turkey would provide an opportunity to clarify several differences and discuss the future of military cooperation among the allies.

Relations between Washington and several European countries have become strained in recent months. Several governments on the continent have shown reluctance to participate in US-Israeli military operations against Iran, fueling criticism of the Trump administration.

Despite these disagreements, the US president's participation in the summit is seen as a sign of continuity in transatlantic relations. The meeting is expected to focus on discussions regarding the sharing of responsibilities within NATO, military spending, and the security challenges facing the Alliance in an increasingly unstable international environment.
