At the White House, a rather unusual scene is currently generating a buzz on social media. During her speech at the international summit launched by Melania Trump, Brigitte Macron was dubbed by a male translator. This scene has sparked considerable reaction, as it follows rumors that have circulated for years that the French First Lady is a man.
An international summit
As a reminder, Brigitte Macron participated in Washington, D.C., in the second day of the inaugural “Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit,” an initiative spearheaded by Melania Trump focusing on education, artificial intelligence, and protecting children in the digital world. The footage of Brigitte Macron alongside the American First Lady is from the roundtable discussion held at the White House on Wednesday, following the first day of meetings at the State Department the previous day.
This meeting was not a traditional summit between heads of state, but rather a gathering of First Spouses and associated delegations, brought together to discuss educational tools, AI applied to education, digital literacy, and online safety. The White House presents this coalition as an international framework designed to help participating countries deploy educational technologies while protecting children from digital risks.
France was among the countries present at the launch of this coalition. According to the White House, 45 member countries participated in the inaugural summit, and Reuters identified Brigitte Macron at the front of the roundtable on March 25 alongside Melania Trump. The day at the White House placed particular emphasis on the role of artificial intelligence in education, with discussions on national strategies and new technological tools presented to the delegations.
The day before, during the opening session at the State Department, Melania Trump had called on participants to build a global alliance to improve children's access to education and technology. According to the Associated Press, representatives from more than 40 countries were present, as well as companies like Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI, focusing on four main themes: AI in education, digital educational tools, digital literacy, and online safety.
