The organizers of the Techno Parade distanced themselves from the presence of Jack Lang at the 26th edition of the event, held Saturday in Paris . The former Minister of Culture, who had participated in the creation of the event 28 years ago, appeared in the procession between the Place de la Bastille and the Place de la Nation, where some 300,000 people gathered for the parade's return after a two-year hiatus.
Jack Lang himself had posted photographs of his presence in the parade on social media. He welcomed the return of the event, recalling its role in the recognition of electronic music and rave culture. The Techno Parade had been cancelled in 2024 and 2025, notably due to the Paris Olympic Games and financial difficulties.
Technopol refuses to associate Jack Lang with the event
The organizer, Technopol, quickly responded, clarifying that the former minister's presence was "neither an invitation nor any initiative" on his part. The association acknowledges Jack Lang's historical role in the creation of the Techno Parade, while asserting that this history does not constitute a carte blanche for the present. It emphasizes that the event now belongs to the artists, professionals, volunteers, audiences, and communities who bring it to life.
This distancing comes as Jack Lang is cited in documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and, according to information reported by Le Figaro , is the subject of a preliminary investigation by the National Financial Prosecutor's Office for "aggravated tax fraud and money laundering." Technopol states that it does not wish to comment on matters falling under the jurisdiction of the courts and clarifies that the former minister "does not represent Technopol" and should not be associated with the image or current values of the Techno Parade.
