Loana's death: her ex-partner allegedly wanted to steal her ashes and replace them with barbecue leftovers

Nearly five months after Loana Petrucciani's death, a particularly disturbing affair has shaken her circle. Sophie, described as the former Loft Story star's last partner , allegedly planned to steal the urn containing her ashes from her mother Violette's home. Even more astonishing, she reportedly intended to replace Loana's ashes with barbecue remains so that the urn's disappearance would go unnoticed. The plan was ultimately never carried out. However, voicemail messages in which Sophie allegedly detailed her intention sufficiently alarmed a close friend of Loana's, prompting them to alert the police.

Loana's ashes are kept at her mother's house.

Loana Petrucciani was found dead on March 25, 2026, in her apartment in Nice, at the age of 48. Her death sparked widespread grief, twenty-five years after her victory in the first season of Loft Story , which made her one of the first iconic figures of French reality television. Her funeral was held on April 10 in Nice. Since then, the urn containing her ashes has been kept at the home of her mother, Violette Petrucciani. Loana's family and friends are to gather on August 30 to scatter her ashes. This date holds great symbolic significance: Loana, born on August 30, 1977, would have celebrated her 49th birthday that day.

A scheme to exchange ashes

It was before this ceremony that a particularly macabre plan was allegedly hatched. Sophie reportedly considered retrieving Loana's ashes herself, without Violette's consent. The plan was said to be precise. She supposedly intended to get herself invited to Loana's mother's house, then find a pretext to get her mother away for a while. She would then have taken advantage of her absence to take the actual ashes and replace them with barbecue remains. The aim was to leave with Loana's ashes while leaving something in the urn that would delay the discovery of the theft. At this stage, however, there is no indication that this plan went beyond mere talk. No theft of the urn has been confirmed, and the ashes remain in Violette's possession.

Voicemail messages that worry a friend of Loana

The affair was revealed by Arnaud, described as a friend of Loana's for twenty-five years. He claims to have heard several voicemails in which Sophie allegedly discussed this plan. Given the content of these recordings, Arnaud reportedly decided to alert the police. He also explains the tensions surrounding Sophie since Loana's disappearance: "She resents the people who accused her of being a murderer who abandoned Loana, and on the other hand, she believes Violette isn't a good mother. But now, she's completely lost it."

Tensions have been high since Loana's death.

Loana's disappearance caused considerable tension among her family and friends. After her death, several close acquaintances questioned the influence Sophie had allegedly exerted over her during the last months of her life. She was accused of isolating Loana from certain people and screening some of her calls. Sophie denied these accusations. An investigation was also opened after Loana's body was discovered. The autopsy, performed a few days later, did not reveal any evidence of foul play. The forensic pathologists found no evidence that she had been the victim of fatal violence.

A dispersal is planned for August 30th

Despite this new development, the scattering of Loana's ashes is still scheduled for August 30, the day she would have turned 49. Her mother Violette and several close friends are expected to attend the ceremony, which is intended to mark a new chapter nearly five months after the death of the woman who, in 2001, became the first major phenomenon of French reality television.
