Australia: Human remains found after the abduction of an 80-year-old man in Sydney

Australian police said Tuesday they had likely found the human remains of an 80-year-old man abducted on February 13 from his home in northern Sydney. Chris Baghsarian was kidnapped by three individuals, according to authorities.

Searches conducted in recent days have led to the discovery of human remains near a golf club in Pitt Town, northwest of the New South Wales capital. Police believe they could be the victim, but formal identification through forensic examination is still required.

An abduction presented as a mistake

A few days after the incident, Commander Andrew Marks publicly called on the kidnappers to release the octogenarian, stating that the perpetrators had targeted the wrong person and that the victim had no connection to the criminal underworld.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the kidnapping and to identify those responsible.
