In Australia, police in the state of Victoria have confirmed the opening of a sexual assault investigation following accusations made public by Australian actress Ruby Rose against American singer Katy Perry.

In several posts subsequently deleted from social media, Ruby Rose claimed that Katy Perry assaulted her in a Melbourne nightclub nearly 20 years ago. The 40-year-old Australian actress, known for her role in the series OHe then indicated on Tuesday that he had finalized his statements to the police.

Ruby Rose says she can no longer speak publicly

In a message posted after her initial accusations, Ruby Rose explained that she had completed all her dealings with the authorities. She specified that, due to this process, she could no longer speak publicly about the matter.

For its part, the Victorian state police did not name names Katy Perrybut indicated that she was investigating "a sexual assault dating back to 2010 and which occurred in Melbourne." The authorities added: "As the investigation is still ongoing, it would be inappropriate to make any further comments at this stage."

Katy Perry strongly denies the accusations

Katy Perry's entourage, 41, has firmly rejected the accusations made by Ruby Rose. A representative for the singer stated that "The allegations spread on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, but also constitute dangerous and irresponsible lies."

At this stage, the investigation announced by the police is still ongoing and no further official details have been publicly released.
