An investigation into the voluntary homicide of a parent has been opened following the discovery of a woman's body in an apartment in Sucy-en-Brie, in the Val-de-Marne department. Police initially responded to the scene on Saturday night/Sunday morning following a report of domestic violence.
Upon arrival, officers reportedly found a man knocking on the door of an apartment. His brother opened the door, punched him in the face, and then closed the door. He then went back outside and assaulted his brother again, prompting police intervention.
The man resisted arrest, according to a police source. Six officers sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization. Law enforcement used a Taser to subdue him.
A bladed weapon was found in the suspect's room.
Upon entering the apartment, police discovered an unconscious woman with multiple facial injuries. A significant wound was also found on her throat. The victim was already deceased when emergency services arrived.
A kitchen knife was reportedly found in the suspect's room during the initial investigation. An autopsy will now be performed to determine the precise cause and circumstances of death. The Créteil prosecutor's office indicates that, at this stage, the case is legally classified as the voluntary homicide of a parent.
The man arrested has been taken into custody. His age, as well as that of his brother and the victim, have not been released. The investigation, entrusted to the criminal investigation department, will notably have to determine the exact sequence of events and the suspect's possible role, who remains presumed innocent until proven guilty.
