Swimming in a prohibited area?

According to information from the Courrier Picard, the tragedy occurred near Canada Lake, in an area where swimming is prohibited. The precise circumstances, however, remain to be established. "The precise circumstances of this tragedy must now be established with the utmost rigor," insisted the mayor, also calling for respect for the family's grief.

Since the end of May, at least three other people have drowned in Picardy: a 15-year-old girl in Alaincourt, a 12-year-old boy in the Sambre-Oise canal near Guise, and a 20-year-old man in Choisy-au-Bac. With the high temperatures increasing the number of people visiting bodies of water, authorities are reminding everyone of the importance of respecting swimming bans and safety guidelines.
