Morbihan: 1,500 people attend a banned rave party despite the heatwave

Around 1,500 people gathered on Saturday in Forges-de-Lanouée, Morbihan, for a rave party organized despite a prefectural ban. This gathering took place while the department was under a red heatwave warning and facing a high risk of wildfires. The party began on Friday night at a site whose access is normally restricted due to weather conditions.

The prefect of Morbihan, Michaël Galy, denounced "the irresponsibility of the organizers," stating that this clandestine event posed risks to participants, emergency services, and the environment. The gendarmerie deployed measures to prevent the arrival of more festival-goers and to secure the area.

The authorities want to seize the sound equipment

The prefecture indicated that significant security resources had been deployed, including reinforcements from the mobile gendarmerie in the Île-de-France region. Among the objectives of the operation was the seizure of the sound equipment used for this illegal free party.

Authorities are reminding the public that Morbihan faces a high risk of forest fires. In a context of drought and intense heat, even the slightest outbreak of fire could have significant consequences for natural areas, homes, and people. For several days now, a prefectural decree has prohibited festive gatherings with music until August 31st, while a second decree restricts access to several forest areas and heathlands in the department, including the Forges-de-Lanouée sector.
