The investigation into the death of a man following an attack in Ajaccio on the night of July 3-4 has taken a new turn. Three people, including two minors, were taken into custody on Wednesday, July 15, announced Ajaccio Public Prosecutor Nicolas Septe. The investigation, conducted under the authority of an investigating judge, has uncovered a different version of events than the one initially presented.

According to the prosecutor's office, the victim contacted the police after a verbal altercation involving several young women. Investigators now believe that the blow to the man did not occur during a fight, as initially suspected, but in a separate incident.

Suspicions of theft and distribution of images on social media

The investigation has also uncovered new facts that could strengthen the case. According to the prosecutor, after being left unconscious on the ground, the victim was allegedly robbed of his cash. Investigators have also established that images of the man, while unconscious, were taken and then shared on social media.

These elements prompted the new arrests. The ongoing interrogations should clarify the role of each suspect and accurately reconstruct the sequence of events.

The first person charged has already been placed under judicial supervision.

The case had already led to the indictment of 18-year-old Aurèle Acquaviva. The young man was placed under judicial supervision a few days after the incident. His lawyer, Don Georges Pintrel, indicated that if the link between the violence and the victim's death was confirmed, his client could face a reclassification of the charges to "violence resulting in death without intent to kill."

At this stage, however, this reclassification has not yet been formally announced by the investigating magistrate. The judicial inquiry continues in order to determine individual responsibilities and establish the exact circumstances that led to the victim's death.
