The day before, Gabriel Attal had downplayed the political significance of this rapprochement, suggesting it didn't particularly excite the French. This was the Renaissance leader's way of reminding everyone that voters primarily want concrete answers to their concerns. However, this statement also revealed the growing competition among the various contenders from the center-right bloc.
"No opponent within the central bloc"
When questioned about Gabriel Attal's remarks, Édouard Philippe asserted that he had no adversaries within the centrist bloc. He acknowledged the existence of competitors, while affirming that he maintained relationships with them based on respect and trust. The president of Horizons believes that these differences should not prevent the future formation of a coalition.
Édouard Philippe also declined to comment further on the national political landscape during his trip to Mayotte. He stated that he wanted to focus his visit on the difficulties faced by the archipelago's inhabitants.
