French astronaut Sophie Adenot is scheduled to perform her second spacewalk from the International Space Station next Tuesday. Her objective will be to complete the installation of an antenna for communications with Earth. This new operation was announced by NASA.
The spacewalk will take place exactly one week after Sophie Adenot's first intervention in space. Accompanied by an American astronaut, the Frenchwoman did not have enough time to complete all the planned tasks. The mission was nevertheless considered a success despite its interruption before the equipment was fully installed.
Complete the antenna installation
Sophie Adenot will have to resume the technical operations carried out outside the station. The installation of this antenna will strengthen communication capabilities between the orbital laboratory and the teams on the ground. These operations require meticulous preparation due to the constraints encountered in the vacuum of space.
This second spacewalk will mark another important step in the French astronaut's mission. Most importantly, it will allow her to complete the work begun during her first spacewalk. Sophie Adenot will thus confirm her participation in the most demanding technical operations conducted aboard the International Space Station.
