Firefighters in Haute-Garonne responded twice in three days to retrieve boas that had escaped or been found in unusual locations. On Thursday morning, a snake approximately one meter long was reported on a public road in Montesquieu-Volvestre. The reptile had escaped from its terrarium for reasons still unknown.
Firefighters quickly secured the animal before returning it to its owner. No injuries were reported during the operation. This discovery came just two days after a similar operation in Colomiers, a western suburb of Toulouse.
A boa constrictor hidden under the hood of a car
On Tuesday, a motorist attempting to replace the battery of his car, which had been out of commission for about a month, found himself face to face with a 1,50-meter boa constrictor hidden in the engine compartment. Five firefighters were called to the scene, including two animal rescue specialists equipped with the necessary gear. The snake was removed without incident.
Unlike the boa constrictor found in Montesquieu-Volvestre, the one found in Colomiers was not immediately returned to its owner. It was entrusted to the veterinary services for examination and treatment. These two successive interventions remain particularly unusual in the department.
