Nicolas de Tavernost will take over as chairman of the board of directors of Stade Rennais

Nicolas de Tavernost, the current CEO of LFP Media, will join Stade Rennais FC as chairman of the board. His arrival at the Breton club will officially take place on June 1st, a few days after his announced departure from LFP Media.

The 75-year-old executive will represent the Pinault family, shareholders of the club, alongside executive chairman Arnaud Pouille. He succeeds Guillaume Cerutti as chairman of the board.

A return to football for the former boss of M6

A former executive at Groupe M6 between 2000 and 2018, Nicolas de Tavernost already has extensive experience in French football. He notably managed Girondins de Bordeaux when the club belonged to the media group.

Since April 2025, he had been at the helm of LFP Media and had notably overseen the launch of the Ligue 1+ platform, dedicated to broadcasting the French championship. His departure comes after several tensions surrounding audiovisual rights and the League's failure to acquire the full rights to the 2026 World Cup.

Nicolas de Tavernost joins Stade Rennais, who have just finished sixth in Ligue 1 and now hope to consolidate their European ambitions for the coming seasons.
