François Ruffin criticizes the conditions of access to the social-democratic primary

François Ruffin strongly criticized the primary organized by the Socialist Party, Place Publique, and the Republican and Socialist Left during the Socialist Party's summer conference in Blois. The member of parliament for the Somme and presidential candidate believes that the chosen procedures limit popular participation.

The leader of the Debout! party advocated for a broader primary, bringing together socialists, ecologists, and former members of La France Insoumise. He ultimately laments a vote limited to three parties and believes that the financial contribution imposed on voters constitutes an additional obstacle.

A participation fee set between 10 and 15 euros

François Ruffin is contesting, in particular, the fee charged to participate in the vote, set between 10 and 15 euros. He believes this fee is likely to exclude lower-income citizens and is calling for a more open process. He has not, however, indicated whether he still intends to join the primary.

Olivier Faure had initially advocated for a consultation bringing together the entire social, democratic, and environmental left, with a participation fee of two euros. This proposal was rejected by party members and his internal opponents. The primary will therefore proceed in its current format to select a candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
