Presidential election 2027: Pierre Jouvet challenges François Hollande to participate in the primary

Pierre Jouvet is calling on François Hollande to clarify his presidential ambitions. On Friday, August 28, on Ici Drôme, the Secretary General of the Socialist Party invited the former head of state to participate in the primary organized by the Socialist Party and Place Publique if he truly wishes to play a major role in the 2027 presidential election.

The Socialist MEP believes that François Hollande possesses all the necessary legitimacy to defend his proposals in this competition. He rejects, however, the idea of ​​a candidacy launched outside the process, in the hope of later appearing as an alternative. Olivier Faure had expressed a similar message the day before, considering a strategy based on the prior collapse of his own party to be wishful thinking.

Four candidates have already declared their candidacy.

The primary will take place over the weekends of October 10th and 11th, and then October 17th and 18th. Members of the Socialist Party and Place Publique who are up-to-date with their dues will be eligible to vote, as well as members of a social-democratic bloc created for voters wishing to participate without directly joining either of the two parties.

Four figures have already announced their candidacy: Raphaël Glucksmann, leader of Place Publique, MPs Jérôme Guedj and Philippe Brun, and Ségolène Royal. A potential entry by François Hollande would profoundly alter the balance of the competition and force the former president to directly confront his platform with those of the other social-democratic left-wing contenders.
