2027 Presidential Election: Olivier Faure calls on François Hollande to participate in the Socialist primary

Olivier Faure called on François Hollande this Friday to participate in the primary organized by the Socialists for the 2027 presidential election. The First Secretary of the Socialist Party believes that the former head of state should not wait for a possible collapse of the other candidates to return to the race.

Upon arriving at the Socialist Party's summer conference, Olivier Faure clearly invited François Hollande to submit to the internal vote. "I want him to participate in this primary. I don't believe in the appeals process," he declared. According to him, a candidacy cannot be built on "the hope that rests on the collapse of one's own camp."

Faure also wants to bring the Greens together

The Socialist Party leader also appealed to the Greens, whose strategy for 2027 remains uncertain. Presenting himself as a "total supporter of this social, ecological, and democratic bloc," Olivier Faure asserted that "there is no possible victory without the Greens."

He therefore promises to do "everything in [his] power" to allow the Socialists and Greens to "come together and move forward" during the presidential election. Just weeks before the primary, Olivier Faure is thus seeking to broaden the coalition while pushing François Hollande to quickly clarify his intentions.
