Republican lawmakers in Florida have approved a bill to rename Palm Beach International Airport "President Donald J. Trump International Airport." The bill has passed both the state House of Representatives and the Senate.
Located near Mar-a-Lago, the residence of Donald Trump In Florida, the airport serves a resort town renowned for its beaches and luxury properties. The measure still needs to be signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis and approved by the civil aviation regulator.
A new symbolic initiative
This name change is part of a series of initiatives associated with the former president, whose name already appears on numerous buildings and infrastructure. In December, the board of trustees of the Kennedy Center in Washington decided to rename the cultural complex the "Trump-Kennedy Center."
According to American media, other symbolic proposals have also been discussed, particularly concerning the names of public infrastructure or facilities, in a political context marked by strong partisan divisions.
