Spider-Man: Brand New Day became the eighth film in history to cross the two billion dollar mark in worldwide box office receipts, a milestone reached in just three weeks of release, making it the second fastest film to achieve this after Avengers: Endgame.
A third record-breaking weekend for Sony Pictures
The film earned an additional $70 million in the United States during its third weekend, bringing its North American total to $785,8 million in seventeen days, placing it fourth on the list of the highest-grossing domestic films of all time, ahead of Avatar. This result already makes it the most lucrative release in Sony Pictures' history.
Starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, the feature film directed by Destin Daniel Cretton became the fastest film to surpass $700 million in the United States, with a worldwide total of $2,022 billion, of which $1,23 billion was earned outside the United States.
A performance that surpasses the previous installment of the saga
Spider-Man: No Way Home, the previous solo film starring Tom Holland, released in 2021, came close to but fell short of the two billion dollar mark with $1,9 billion in worldwide revenue. The new film now aims to surpass the all-time record for the US domestic box office, held since 2015 by Star Wars: The Force Awakens with $936,7 million.
Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey continues its own remarkable trajectory, surpassing one billion dollars in worldwide box office receipts and becoming the biggest success of the British director's career.
