Achraf Hakimi sent to trial for rape: the PSG player denies the allegations

Achraf Hakimi, defender for Paris Saint-Germain and Moroccan international, has been ordered to stand trial for rape by the French justice system. This decision follows an accusation filed in February 2023 by a young woman and will now be examined by the Hauts-de-Seine departmental criminal court.

Hakimi maintains his innocence and awaits trial

On his X account, Hakimi reacted by stating: "Today, an accusation of rape is enough to justify a trial, even though I contest it and everything proves it to be false. This is as unjust for the innocent as it is for the sincere victims. I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to come out publicly."

The player's lawyer indicated her intention to appeal if necessary, while the plaintiff's lawyer believes that the decision to send the case to trial is consistent with the evidence in the case.

Despite these legal proceedings, and with the player presumed innocent until proven guilty, Hakimi remains part of the Paris Saint-Germain and Moroccan national team squads. This referral to trial comes the day before the Champions League match against Monaco. PSG, who won the first leg 3-2, will try to secure their place in the round of 16.
