Marine Tondelier has announced that she is three months pregnant. In an interview given to ELLE Then, on the LCI television program, in an interview with Darius Rochebin, Marine Tondelier explained that she was expecting this child after several miscarriages and an unsuccessful round of assisted reproductive technology. Marine Tondelier, 39, is already the mother of a 7-year-old boy.
A personal announcement made public in the midst of a political crisis
Marine Tondelier presents this pregnancy as a new arrival, unexpected after a period she describes as politically difficult but personally happy. She also explained that she chose to speak now because her pregnancy was becoming noticeable, after feeling, since January, that she had been leading a double life during the municipal election campaign.
As a reminder, Marine Tondelier is involved in preparing for the 2027 presidential election. She officially announced her candidacy on October 22nd, before being designated on December 8th by Les Écologistes to represent the party in the primary of the left and the ecologists scheduled for 2026 in view of the 2027 presidential election.
A journey marked by a first miscarriage followed by failures in assisted reproductive technology (ART)
In this interview, Marine Tondelier recounts her first miscarriage, followed by her fertility treatment journey with her partner. She describes a demanding treatment, punctuated by hormonal injections, strict schedules, and a routine difficult to reconcile with frequent political travel. Marine Tondelier explains that she kept this period very private.
After several unsuccessful attempts at assisted reproductive technology (ART), Marine Tondelier says she underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF) after the dissolution of 2024. This pregnancy also ended after a few weeks. Marine Tondelier explains that she then put this project on hold before becoming pregnant naturally a few months later. This pregnancy began on December 25th.
A pregnancy that already overlaps with the campaign around 2027
On LCI, Marine Tondelier explained that running a campaign while pregnant was a challenge, adding that pregnancy was not a sign of incapacity. She specified that she had already participated in part of the municipal election campaign while pregnant, without discussing it publicly. TF1 Info also reports that Marine Tondelier is due to give birth in September 2026 and is expecting a boy.
The political calendar gives this announcement particular significance. Marine Tondelier was nominated by her party with 86% of the vote against Waleed Mouhali. This nomination was intended to allow Marine Tondelier to represent her party in a potential left-wing primary before the 2027 presidential election, the details of which were still under discussion.
