A flotilla bound for Gaza departs Bristol despite the risks of the Israeli blockade

A ship carrying twelve volunteers set sail from Bristol, UK, as part of a campaign to break the Israeli blockade and deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The departure took place this Monday. The ship is part of a larger initiative aimed at circumventing the Israeli siege of the Gaza Strip, where the delivery of aid remains severely restricted.

Since 2010, Israel has intercepted every flotilla attempting to reach Gaza. Volunteers who participated in previous missions testify to ill-treatment suffered at the hands of Israeli forces during these interceptions.

The twelve crew members aboard the British ship are aware of these precedents. Their departure from Bristol nevertheless marks the continuation of an international civil mobilization which seeks, by sea, to challenge the blockade and deliver aid to the population of Gaza.
