SNCF: Jean Castex reshuffles the management of SNCF Voyageurs

SNCF President Jean Castex has announced a major reorganization of the governance of SNCF Voyageurs. Christophe Fanichet, who has led this subsidiary since its creation in January 2020, will leave his position and take up a new role within the group. He will be replaced by a dual leadership team comprised of Laurent Trevisani, who will chair the board of directors, and Jean-Aimé Mougenot, appointed CEO.

According to SNCF, this reorganization aims to "create new momentum and strategic direction." Jean Castex praised Christophe Fanichet's record, reaffirming his confidence in him, while also acknowledging the need to adapt the subsidiary's organization in a context marked by the increasing openness of rail transport to competition.

A new organization is expected in 2027.

SNCF plans to implement a new organizational structure at the beginning of 2027, based on the principles of decentralization, performance, and group unity. This plan will replace the "Destination 2030" project, previously led by Christophe Fanichet, which aimed to support the transformation of SNCF Voyageurs and the development of regional subsidiaries created as part of the market liberalization.

Created following the 2018 rail reform, SNCF Voyageurs encompasses all of the group's passenger transport activities, from TGVs and TERs to Intercités, Transilien, and night trains. While the subsidiary has seen strong ridership growth, particularly on TGV lines, it also faces recurring criticism regarding service quality on certain lines and labor disputes related to its reorganization.
