Gaël Perdriau He announced on Wednesday his immediate imprisonment, carrying out the sentence handed down against him in the sexual blackmail case that rocked local politics. The former mayor of Saint-Étienne chose to make this step public via a message posted on social media.
In this publication, the former political leader states that he submits to the judicial decision while firmly contesting the judgment handed down in early December 2025. He reaffirms his intention to pursue the appeal proceedings, believing that he was convicted at the end of a trial that he considers profoundly unfair.
A heavy sentence upheld in the first instance
Gaël Perdriau was sentenced to four years in prison for several offenses, including blackmail, conspiracy, and embezzlement, in a case involving the use of an intimate video for political pressure. This decision marked the definitive downfall of a man who had long been a central figure on the right wing in the Loire region.
Other key figures in the case are also facing prison sentences. One of them, Gilles Rossary-Lenglethas already indicated that he has begun his detention, while the terms of incarceration of the other convicts have not yet been made public.
