Mayotte: the back-to-school allowance will be paid from August 4, 2026

With the start of the 2026-2027 school year just weeks away, families in Mayotte eligible for the Back-to-School Allowance will receive this aid starting Tuesday, August 4th. Mayotte thus benefits from an early schedule, aligned with the date classes resume in the territory.

The payment will be made the same day in Réunion. In mainland France, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, and Martinique, however, beneficiaries will have to wait until August 18. Intended for families with children aged 6 to 18 in school or apprenticeships, the ARS (Regional Health Agency) contributes to the financing of essential supplies, clothing, and equipment.

A slight increase in amounts in Mayotte

For this new school year, the amounts paid to families in Mayotte have been slightly increased. The aid will reach €429,01 for a child in primary school, compared to €425,60 in 2025. It will amount to €452,67 for a middle school student, after €449,09 the previous year.

Families with a child in high school will be able to receive 468,36 euros, compared to 464,65 euros in 2025. These amounts specific to Mayotte are slightly higher than those applied in Metropolitan France, where the ARS will reach 426,87 euros for 6-10 year olds, 450,41 euros for 11-14 year olds and 466,02 euros for 15-18 year olds respectively.

Aid is granted subject to income requirements.

The payment of the allowance depends on household income. For the start of the 2026 school year, the income taken into account is that received in 2024. This income must not exceed the limits corresponding to the number of dependent children. When income slightly exceeds these limits, a differential allowance may be granted under certain conditions.

Families in Mayotte are urged to quickly verify the information recorded in their files, particularly their family situation, bank details, and their children's school enrollment. Certain procedures may be required for teenagers aged 16 to 18. These verifications and declarations must be made to the Family Allowance Fund (CAF), notably on the website caf.fr.
