In Douai, the incumbent Socialist mayor, Frédéric Chéreau, was re-elected with 41,7% of the vote after a close second round. He narrowly defeated the National Rally candidate, Thierry Tesson, who garnered 40,6% after leading in the first round, while the independent right-wing candidate received 17,6%. The northern city thus remains firmly in the left-wing camp following the election.
