Montpellier: Michaël Delafosse re-elected with 50,13%

Incumbent mayor Michaël Delafosse was re-elected to lead Montpellier in the second round of the 2026 municipal elections, securing 50,13% of the vote. The left-wing coalition candidate clearly outpaced Nathalie Oziol (LFI), who received 25,06%, and Mohed Altrad (independent centrist), who garnered 24,81%.

Having come out far ahead in the first round with more than 33% of the votes, Michaël Delafosse confirms his status as favorite in this city in Occitanie, despite a campaign marked by the desire of La France insoumise to conquer this large metropolis.

A three-way race favorable to the incumbent mayor

The division among his opponents in the second round played into the hands of the incumbent mayor, who was able to capitalize on his record, notably free public transport and the development of the tram network.

This success allows him to retain Montpellier for a new term, in a political configuration where the left remains dominant, despite the stated ambitions of his competitors.
