Ukraine: Zelensky welcomes "positive" talks with Trump's envoys on a solution to the conflict

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky He claimed to have had a "positive" conversation with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, believing that the discussions demonstrated a willingness to move towards a settlement of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia in the coming weeks.

According to the Ukrainian leader, this exchange took place as he was returning to Kyiv after a series of diplomatic meetings in London. The British capital recently hosted several discussions bringing together European and Ukrainian officials to discuss peace prospects and continued support for Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he appreciated the commitment shown by the American representatives to finding a solution to the conflict. However, the details of the conversation were not made public.

These exchanges are taking place against a backdrop of intense diplomatic efforts. The United States is seeking to maintain channels of communication with Kyiv and Moscow in order to explore the possibilities of de-escalation after more than four years of war.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council held a meeting dedicated to the situation in Ukraine. Discussions focused on the ongoing fighting and repeated calls from the international community for a ceasefire.

During this meeting, a United Nations official indicated that at least 30 civilians had been killed in Ukraine since Friday, highlighting the still high human cost of the conflict despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.

While fighting continues on multiple fronts, Volodymyr Zelensky's statements have fueled hopes for a resumption of negotiations. However, no specific timetable or concrete progress has yet been announced regarding a possible peace agreement.
