UNFP Trophies 2026: Ousmane Dembélé retains his throne, PSG and Lens honored

The 34th UNFP Trophies ceremony, held Monday evening at the Palais Brongniart in Paris, honored the best players in French football for the 2025-2026 season. Ousmane Dembélé was voted Ligue 1 Player of the Year for the second consecutive year. The Paris Saint-Germain forward beat Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, Florian Thauvin, and Mason Greenwood in the vote by his peers.

A title win despite a less than stellar season

Having already won the award in 2025, Dembélé continues PSG's dominance of this trophy. Since 2016, the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award has gone to a PSG player without interruption.

This new distinction comes after a more complicated season than the previous one. Hampered by injuries and sometimes rested, the French international played fewer minutes in the league, but he remained decisive whenever he was on the pitch.

PSG is still making its mark

Paris Saint-Germain also shone with Désiré Doué, voted best young player in Ligue 1. The Parisian winger also retains his title, although one might wonder why he is still in the "young player" category, given that he is now an established player…

Dembélé also won the trophy for the most beautiful goal in Ligue 1, thanks to his sequence finished with a lob against Lille.

Lens, another winner of the evening

RC Lens also left with several awards. Robin Risser was named Ligue 1's best goalkeeper after a remarkable season in goal for Lens. Pierre Sage was voted Ligue 1's best coach. Arriving after his time at Lyon, he has given Lens a strong identity and established the club among the league's top teams.

Davitashvili, Dumornay, Olise: the other big names on the list

In Ligue 2, Zuriko Davitashvili, a player for Saint-Étienne, was voted best player. Quentin Braat, goalkeeper for Rodez, and Stéphane Dumont, coach of Troyes, were also recognized.

In the women's category, Melchie Dumornay was named best player in the Arkema Première Ligue. The OL Lyon players have established themselves as one of the league's leading figures.

Abroad, Michael Olise, who had a great season with Bayern Munich, was voted the best French player playing outside of France.
