France has confirmed its first case of Ebola, detected in a doctor who returned from the Democratic Republic of Congo, where a major outbreak is currently underway. The patient, being treated in a specialized unit, was immediately isolated, while health authorities activated surveillance protocols and contact tracing for those who had been in contact with him.
As a result, Air France has announced the temporary suspension of its flights between Paris and Kinshasa. This measure applies to flights until Saturday, June 27, to allow time to strengthen health protocols and assess the situation with the relevant authorities.
The company specifies that the resumption of flights is contingent upon the implementation of enhanced health checks before boarding at Kinshasa airport. These checks are being carried out in coordination with Congolese authorities to minimize the risk of spreading the virus.
Air France emphasizes that this suspension is a precautionary measure. French authorities reiterate that the risk to the public remains low, thanks to the rapid isolation of the patient, the monitoring of contacts, and the health control procedures implemented.
