Paprec continues its international expansion by acquiring Brantner Green Solutions, the waste management arm of the Austrian family-owned Brantner Group. The French recycling leader has reached an agreement to acquire 80% of the company for an undisclosed sum. This is Paprec's largest investment since the acquisition of Coved in 2016.
This operation will allow Paprec to establish a simultaneous presence in Austria, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Serbia. The French group will thus have an already structured platform for expansion in Central and Eastern Europe, after having strengthened its positions in Switzerland, Spain, and Italy.
Brantner generates €320 million in revenue
Brantner Green Solutions employs over 2,500 people and generates approximately €320 million in revenue. The company has a network of 65 sites and branches and boasts over 28,000 clients, including local authorities, industrial companies, and businesses. Its local experience should allow Paprec to accelerate its development without having to build a network from scratch.
Mathieu Petithuguenin, CEO of Paprec, will assume the chairmanship of the new entity. Bernd Brantner will become vice-chairman, allowing the founding family to remain involved in the company's governance and development. The Brantner Group, established in Austria in 1936, will retain the remaining 20% stake.
Paprec aims for €4,5 billion in revenue by 2026
The merger is expected to be finalized in the last quarter of 2026, subject to obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals. Once completed, Paprec will have approximately 26,000 employees in 15 countries, significantly strengthening its European presence.
Paprec achieved €3,5 billion in revenue in 2025 and aims for €4,5 billion in 2026. The group intends to generate a quarter of its revenue internationally starting this year. The acquisition of Brantner Green Solutions confirms this strategy and positions Paprec in several European markets where the modernization of waste treatment and stricter recycling targets are expected to support sector growth.
