Sounds of fighting were reported in several strategic areas of Niamey, around the airport and the presidential palace, two key sites for the military regime led by Abdourahamane Tiani.
Faced with this situation, the junta addressed the nation, claiming it was "regaining control" without providing any specific explanation about the nature of the clashes or the parties involved. The reasons for these clashes remain unclear at this time.
