The Congolese government has announced the suspension of academic activities in the eastern territories of the country under the control of the AFC/M23, just days before the start of the school year. The measure has provoked numerous reactions.

The decision comes just days before the start of the academic year: Kinshasa has officially suspended academic activities in the eastern areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo controlled by the AFC/M23. This announcement by the Congolese government has sparked strong reactions, both humanitarian and political, in the context of the ongoing conflict in the region.

In Madagascar, the roadmap for national consultations has been published by the FFKM, the Ecumenical Council of Christian Churches in the country. These consultations, called for since the overthrow of President Rajoelina almost a year ago, aim to gather citizens' input and lay the groundwork for institutional reform.

In Tunisia, the village of Sidi Bou Said was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site at the end of July. Beyond protecting its architecture and hillside, which were damaged by floods in January, this UN designation now extends its protection to the Sufi traditions of the area. The Kharja ceremony took place in mid-August, and Sufi celebrations in the village continue until the end of September.
