The cult series MalcolmA 2000s icon, she's making a big comeback. Hulu and Disney+ have released the first official trailer of this highly anticipated sequel. All four episodes will be available the 10 April 2026, with almost the entire original cast.
In this trailer, Malcolm says: "My life is fantastic now. All I had to do was stay away from my family!"But his past quickly catches up with him when his parents, Hal and Lois, demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversaryforcing him to reconnect with his family after more than ten years of secrecy with his daughter. The full title, Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair (Malcolm in the Middle: Life is always unfair), recalls the original theme song Boss of Me from the group They Might Be Giants and highlights the continuity with the series broadcast on Fox from 2000 to 2006.
An almost complete return of the original cast
Frankie Muniz reprises his role as Malcolm, alongside Bryan Cranston (Hal) and Jane Kaczmarek (Lois). Christopher Masterson returns as Francis, Justin Berfield plays Reese, and Emy Coligado reprises her role as Piama. Anthony Timpano also returns as Jamie, Malcolm's younger brother.
The most notable absence is that of Erik Per Sullivan, Dewey in the original series, replaced by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark (Wynonna EarpThe sequel also introduces new characters: Keeley Karsten (The Fabelmans) plays Leah, Malcolm's daughter; Vaughan Murrae (The Way Home) plays Kelly, the youngest of the siblings; and Kiana Madeira (Trinkets) plays Tristan, Malcolm's partner.
Linwood Boomer and Ken Kwapis at the helm of the sequel
Linwood Boomer, creator of the original series, returns as screenwriter and executive producerKen Kwapis, acclaimed director for The Office et Parks and Recreation, directs the four episodes and also serves as executive producer. The episodes will be broadcast simultaneously on Disney+ in France et Hulu in the United States the 10 2026 April.
