Sunday night in Los Angeles, the Golden Globes delivered their share of predictable moments, such as the sweep of "One Battle After Another" and "Adolescence," or host Nikki Glaser making fun of the age of the co-stars of Leonardo DiCaprio.

But there were also beautiful moments, like when Erin Doherty, star of "Adolescence" playing a child therapist, won the award for best supporting actress on television, and thanked the therapists.

Or when George Clooney, seated at the edge of the stage, gallantly helped Jean Smart up to the podium before later embracing his former "ER" co-star, Noah Wyle, on his way to accept the Golden Globe for Best Television Drama for "The Pitt".

There were also some surprising moments, such as when Rose Byrne explained the absence of her partner and fellow actor. Bobby cannavale at the time of his victory: he was at a reptile exhibition in New Jersey, because the family was going to adopt a bearded dragon.

Another touching moment occurred when Rhea Seehorn, star of "Pluribus," took to the stage to accept her award for Best Actress in a Drama Series. She first told the presenter Queen Latifah that she had met her twenty years ago, at a time when she was between jobs, and that the rapper-actress had been "so nice".

Other highlights included: a strong tribute to Brazilian cinema, and Seth Rogen experiencing a feeling of déjà vu. Amy Poehler teasing NPR, and singer-songwriter Ejae (“KPop Demon Hunters”) encouraging viewers to keep persevering.

We should note the victory of Timothée Chalametwho won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical, thanks to his role in "Marty Supreme."

Brazil on the rise

Wagner Moura won the Golden Globe for best actor in a drama, becoming the second Brazilian to win a Golden Globe for acting after Fernanda Torres' victory last year for "I'm Still Here".

In "The Secret Agent," Moura plays a former teacher forced into hiding while trying to protect his young son during the Brazilian military dictatorship of the 1970s. The film also won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.

“The Secret Agent is a film about memory, or the lack of memory, and generational trauma.”Moura said during his speech. "I believe that if trauma can be passed down from generation to generation, so can values. This prize is dedicated to those who remain true to their values in difficult times."

Moura is best known for his portrayal of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar in the Netflix series "Narcos" (2015-2017), which earned him a Golden Globe nomination in 2016. He was also part of the cast of "Civil War" in 2024.

Last year, Brazil won its first Oscar in the Best International Feature Film category with "I'm Still Here".

Life imitates art for Seth Rogen

Seth Rogen won his first-ever Golden Globe just a few months after his show business satire "The Studio" devoted an entire episode to the same ceremony.

"It's so bizarre! We pretended to be going through this and now it's really happening!"Rogen said, holding his trophy. "I thought the only way for me to get hold of one would be to create a whole series to give myself a fake one."

In the Golden Globes episode of "The Studio", Rogen's portrayed studio head, Matt, attends the ceremony and is obsessed with the idea of having his name mentioned in an acceptance speech.

In his actual speech, Rogen thanked the other nominees, notably praising the "Only Murders in the Building" duo, Steve Martin and Martin Short. “I grew up watching you, all my life telling myself: ‘One day, I’m going to beat them.’” He then laughed before adding: "I didn't really think it would happen."

Amy Poehler wins the first podcast Golden Globe

"Good Hang with Amy Poehler" won the first-ever Golden Globe for Best Podcast, and the host took the opportunity to joke about her rivals at National Public Radio.

"I know I'm just starting out in this field. I have immense respect for this format."Poehler said. "I have a lot of respect for everyone I'm nominated with. I'm a fan of all of you, except for NPR: just a bunch of celebrities doing the bare minimum. Try a little harder."

This is Poehler's second Golden Globe, after the one she won in 2014 for "Parks and Recreation." She explained that her podcast aims to make "a harsh and unkind world a little more filled with love and laughter."

The nominations avoided political or controversial topics, leaving out popular conservative-leaning podcasts such as "The Megyn Kelly Show", "The Tucker Carlson Show", "The Ben Shapiro Show", Candace Owens' "Candace" and "The Joe Rogan Experience".

"Golden," unsurprisingly, triumphed at the Golden Globes.

"Golden," from "KPop Demon Hunters," won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song, and one of its songwriters delivered a message of hope to those struggling to be heard.

“When I was little, I worked tirelessly for ten years to achieve a single dream: to become a K-pop idol. I was rejected and disappointed, thinking my voice wasn’t good enough,” said Ejae, co-performer and co-writer of the song with Mark Sonnenblick and Lee Hee-joon. “Today, I’m here as a singer and songwriter.”

"It's a dream come true to be part of a song that helps other girls, other boys, and people of all ages overcome their difficulties and accept themselves."she added.

The soundtrack for "K-Pop Demon Hunters" dominated the charts, debuting at number one on the Billboard Soundtracks chart and number eight on the Billboard 200 overall chart. The film also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature.

"Adolescence" and the hope of "making hatred disappear"

"Adolescence" won four Golden Globes, and screenwriter Jack Thorne praised the young actors in the series, stating: "You are proof that the world can be a better place."

“Eliminating hatred is the responsibility of our generation. This requires a top-down approach. The possibility seems distant today, but hope is a beautiful thing.”, he added.

This four-part Netflix miniseries, which chronicles the emotional aftermath of the stabbing murder of a British teenager, has become a true phenomenon. It had already won eight Emmy Awards last year, including Best Limited Series or Anthology Series.

On Sunday, "Adolescence" won Golden Globes for best miniseries or television film, best supporting actor on television (Owen Cooper), best supporting actress on television (Erin Doherty) and best lead actor on television (Stephen Graham).
