Uganda confirms two new cases of Ebola, bringing the total to seven.

Uganda confirmed two new cases of Ebola on Monday, bringing the total number of infections recorded in the country to seven, according to the Ugandan Ministry of Health.

The two new patients are Ugandan healthcare workers employed at a private medical facility in the capital, Kampala. Authorities have stated that they have been placed in a specialized unit where they are currently receiving treatment.

The ministry stated that health teams were continuing their search to identify and monitor all individuals who had been in contact with the two patients.

This announcement comes amid growing concerns in Central and East Africa about the spread of the virus. The United States and several international organizations are closely monitoring the situation in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, where a major outbreak is also underway.

The identified virus belongs to the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, a rarer variant of the viral hemorrhagic disease. Health authorities have strengthened surveillance measures in hospitals and at borders to limit any risk of further spread.
