Some airlines are beginning to gradually restore their routes to the Middle East, as diplomatic efforts intensify to stabilize the region after several weeks of conflict linked to US and Israeli strikes against Iran. However, the recovery remains incomplete, and numerous restrictions continue to disrupt international air traffic.
Several carriers have announced adjustments to their flight schedules, with limited reopenings on certain routes deemed safer. Despite these reassuring signs, a large number of connections to major hubs such as Tel Aviv, Dubai, and several Gulf capitals remain suspended or significantly reduced.
Among the affected airlines, Greece's Aegean Airlines has extended the cancellation of its flights between Thessaloniki and Tel Aviv until June 26, while maintaining the suspension of its services to Dubai until the end of August. Flights to Erbil and Baghdad also remain suspended until the end of September.
Latvian airline airBaltic has suspended its flights to Tel Aviv until June 28 and to Dubai until October 24, while Air Canada has cancelled its services to these same destinations until the end of October. Air Europa has also suspended its flights to Israel until June 28.
The Air France-KLM group is also maintaining significant restrictions. Air France has suspended its flights to Tel Aviv until June 23, to Beirut until June 24, and to Dubai until June 30. KLM, for its part, has extended the suspension of several routes to Riyadh, Dammam, and Dubai until August 9.
Long-haul airlines are also affected. Cathay Pacific has suspended its flights to Dubai and Riyadh until the end of August, while Delta Air Lines is maintaining the suspension of its Atlanta–Tel Aviv route until December. The American carrier does, however, plan to resume a New York–Tel Aviv route in September, while indefinitely postponing the launch of a new route from Boston.
This situation illustrates the persistent fragility of air traffic in a region heavily dependent on international flows. Despite diplomatic announcements and attempts to de-escalate, airlines remain cautious and are adjusting their operations daily in response to evolving security conditions.
