Sunshine in the south, rain returning to the north: a France divided in two this Thursday

Thursday's weather presents a marked contrast between the north and south of the country. While regions south of the Loire are enjoying mostly sunny weather and mild temperatures, a weather system moving in from the English Channel is bringing clouds and light rain to parts of northern France.

From midday onwards, the first showers will reach the Normandy coast before spreading to Hauts-de-France and the Ardennes in the afternoon. Drizzle is also possible between Brittany, Île-de-France, Champagne, and Lorraine. Rainfall totals will remain modest, but the weather is expected to be noticeably grayer and cooler in these regions.

Conversely, sunshine prevails south of the Loire, with particularly pleasant conditions in the southeast. Temperatures rise a few degrees throughout the day after a relatively cool morning, creating a summery feel in many areas.

The mistral and tramontane winds continue to blow in the southeast. Gusts reaching 70 to 85 km/h are expected between Vaucluse, Bouches-du-Rhône, Aude, and Roussillon. Authorities are also urging vigilance due to the very high risk of wildfires in several mountain ranges in the southeast, caused by drought, heat, and wind.
