Weather: Exceptional heat and sunshine everywhere, up to 35°C in the southwest this Friday

Under the influence of a powerful anticyclone, France is experiencing a full summer day this Friday with sunshine prevailing across the entire country. The sky will remain mostly clear from the southwest to the northeast, despite a few decorative clouds north of the Loire and towards the tip of Brittany. No rain is expected.

Temperatures are reaching remarkable levels for the end of May. Across much of the country, they are 8 to 10°C above seasonal averages, and up to 14°C locally in the southwest. The heat is particularly intense between Nouvelle-Aquitaine and the Garonne Valley, where temperatures are well above 30°C.

The heatwave is particularly affecting the Landes and Basque Country regions, where temperatures could reach, or even slightly exceed, 35°C in some areas. A typical midsummer atmosphere is settling over France before a possible change in the weather expected in the coming days.
