Weather: Summer heat settles over France, with the first temperatures of 30°C expected this Thursday

Summer seems to have arrived several weeks early. This Thursday, sunshine is dominating almost all of France in conditions already very hot for this time of year. Temperatures continue their sharp rise, and the first 30°C of the year could be reached in the southwest, particularly between Aquitaine and the Toulouse region, where highs of up to 32°C are expected in some areas.

The weather is fine across almost the entire country, with mostly clear skies from the north to the Mediterranean. Only a few small clouds may develop near the mountains at the end of the day, but this won't detract from the overall impression of midsummer.

Even northern regions will enjoy remarkably high temperatures, often reaching 25 to 28°C in the afternoon. This early heat is due to a surge of very hot air from the Iberian Peninsula, facilitated by high pressure systems firmly established over Western Europe.
