Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned on Tuesday against any Israeli attack on his country, warning that such an action "would amount to lighting a powder keg that could blow up the entire region."
The Mehr news agency reported that Qalibaf, speaking at a parliamentary session in response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's threats to strike Iranian nuclear sites, said: "We consider these statements to be mere empty rhetoric aimed at influencing indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, and we do not take them seriously."
Qalibaf added, however, that Tehran has no doubt that Israel "would not dare any adventure or madness without the authorization of the United States."
He continued: "Any attack on our country, Iran, would amount to lighting a powder keg that would blow up the entire region, and expose all American bases in the countries of the region to an Iranian response."
