After several years without a major new release, Angèle is giving signs of a musical comeback. The 30-year-old Belgian singer, who has been more discreet since her second album, Nonante-cinq, posted a short video on Instagram on February 10th where she covers Neverender, a track by Justice released in late 2024 with Tame Impala. This clip, seen by some of her 3,9 million followers, immediately fueled speculation of an imminent announcement.
A first single announced for February 27th, with a music video to accompany it
According to Le Parisien, Angèle will release a new single on Friday, February 27th, co-written and co-produced with Justice. The track is described as "up tempo," with verses in French and a chorus in English, and will last approximately three minutes. Fun Radio also reports that the collaboration is set to be released on that date, and specifies that Angèle herself confirmed it on Instagram on February 11th.
The music video is scheduled for the same day and was filmed in January in Marseille with (La) Horde, a contemporary dance troupe with which Angèle has already worked, notably at an event linked to Chanel in 2024.
An electro shift and a new framework for what's next
According to Le Parisien, this track will have a more electronic feel, with a production designed as much for radio as for playlists. It will also be his first significant new release since his song "A Little More," produced for a fashion house, and since the studio version of his performance of "Nightcall" at the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
On the industry front, several signs point to a shift in the artist's surroundings. Le Parisien reports that Angèle is no longer signed to Universal, the label that released her first two albums. Le Figaro notes that the release will be handled by Because Music, the label that also represents Justice. Finally, Le Parisien observes that the singer was recently spotted in New York with several artists, including Stromae, ASAP Rocky, and Gracie Abrams, suggesting the possibility of further collaborations, especially with a third album rumored for the coming months.
