In a series of Instagram posts, Brooklyn BeckhamDavid and Victoria Beckham's eldest son, Michael Jackson, has stated that he does not want to reconnect with his family. He accuses his parents of having tried to... "ruin" his relationship with his wife, American actress Nicola Peltz Beckham, and describes behaviors that he considers manipulative and disrespectful.
“My parents have been relentlessly trying to ruin my relationship since before my wedding. My mother cancelled the making of Nicola’s (Nicolas Peltz, his wife, editor’s note) dress at the last minute, despite her enthusiasm at the idea of wearing her creation, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.”"These actions and other pressures have significantly damaged his family relationships," writes Brooklyn Beckham.
Tensions before and during the wedding
Brooklyn Beckham also denounces hurtful comments from members of his family: “The day before our wedding, members of my family told me that Nicola was ‘not blood’ and ‘not family’.”He mentions a public humiliation during the first dance planned with his wife: “From the moment I started standing up for myself against my family, I’ve been subjected to relentless attacks from my parents. My mother hijacked my first dance with my wife. In front of our 500 guests, I was called onto the stage just as my dance was about to begin. My mother pretended to dance in my place. She danced very inappropriately with me in front of everyone. My wife has been constantly disrespected by my family.”
Brooklyn Beckham also laments the intrusion of his romantic past into his married life: "My mother has, on numerous occasions, invited women from my past into our lives in a way clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable."
"My father refused all our attempts to spend time with him."
The young man explains that his attempts to get closer were rejected by his father: “Despite this, we still traveled to London for my father’s birthday. He refused all our attempts to spend time with him, except at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras. When he finally agreed to see me, it was on the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited. It was a real slap in the face.”
According to Brooklyn, family love is subordinate to public image: “Love in this family is measured by the number of social media posts, or how quickly they drop everything to show off and pose for a family photo. I was controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since I moved away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.”
To date, David and Victoria Beckham have not made any official comments on their son's accusations.
