After a first date in Chambord in July, the association Les Étoiles au château, founded in 2022 by the star dancer of the Paris Opera Hugo Marchand, will perform on September 12 and 13 at the Château de Crussol, in Ardèche, with a partially renewed troupe.

Bringing dance out of the theaters for 13 euros

Hugo Marchand, a principal dancer since 2017, founded this association with the ambition of taking dance out of theaters and sharing it with a wider and more diverse audience in areas where it remains underrepresented. Tickets are offered at the intentionally affordable price of 13 euros, as the artist believes that dance transcends mere wonder to become a tool for reclaiming one's body, a vehicle for education, a space for exploring community, and sometimes even a means of healing. More than 20,000 spectators have already attended these performances, which are funded by patrons.

Several times a year, Hugo Marchand thus takes over the courtyards and gardens of French castles alongside other soloists from the Paris Opera and the Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse.

A date postponed in Chambord due to the heatwave

The performance, originally scheduled for July 14th at Chambord, had to be postponed to the following day following a decree from the Loir-et-Cher prefecture due to exceptional heat. The show finally took place on July 15th, bringing together Hugo Marchand and dancers Dorothée Gilbert, Clara Mousseigne, Germain Louvet, Natalia de Froberville, and Ramiro Gómez Samón, accompanied by pianist Elena Bonnay and cellist Julie Sévilla-Fraysse.

For the Ardèche stage in September, the troupe will welcome Léonore Baulac, Hannah O'Neill and Marc Moreau, other regular partners of Hugo Marchand within the Paris Opera.
