Évry-Courcouronnes: a middle school student brings Molotov cocktails, a knife and a hammer into the school

A student from Montesquieu College in Évry-Courcouronnes was arrested yesterday morning after bringing several Molotov cocktails, a knife and a hammer in the school. The student reportedly threw one of the incendiary devices against a wall before being quickly restrained by the municipal police. As a precautionary measure, the students were confined to the school's courtyard. Fortunately, there were no casualties, as confirmed by the Versailles Academy.

Motives still unclear

The teenager's motives remain unknown for now. A police source indicated that he acted to impress a girl, but the prosecutor did not comment on this hypothesis. According to a teacher interviewed by the mayor of Évry-Courcouronnes, the student is described as a very good student, with an average of 17,5, and passionate about geopolitics, particularly the war in Ukraine.

The Evry prosecutor, Grégoire Dulin, specified that the student was taken into custody for “intrusion with a weapon into the grounds of a school establishment, with the aim of disturbing the peace or good order of the establishment”He is also being prosecuted for “aggravated violence followed by incapacity not exceeding eight days” and “damage or deterioration of the property of others by means dangerous to people”.
