The transmission of the weekly Current values The sale by the Safa family to a group of three investors, including billionaire Pierre-Édouard Stérin, has been finalized. The transaction was confirmed by the sellers and a source close to the matter. According to the president of Pidevmedias, the former owner of the publication, "The Pidevmedias group has sold Valmonde, the publishing company of Valeurs actuelles, to a trio of investors composed of Benjamin La Combe, Alexis Caude and Pierre-Edouard Stérin." He also specifies that the supervisory board's agreement had been obtained a few weeks earlier and that "We signed the sales contract this Tuesday morning." Another source, wishing to remain anonymous, confirmed the existence and completion of the transaction. No amount has been disclosed.
A change of shareholders following the death of Iskandar Safa
The Valmonde group was until now owned by the heirs of the Franco-Lebanese businessman Iskandar Safa, who died in January 2024. He had bought the whole in 2015. The sale therefore marks the end of almost a decade of family control over the weekly magazine, in a context of recomposition of the media landscape and evolution of the family's asset priorities.
What future for the editorial line?
The new ownership structure will not immediately change the editorial direction. The current editor-in-chief, Tugdual Denis, will remain in his position. This stability aims to ensure the publication's continuity during the transition phase, as the new owners intend to gradually implement their strategy.
