He expressed his desire to "restore order in the country and put France on the right track." According to information released on Monday, Matthieu Valet, a former high-profile spokesperson for the Independent Union of Police Commissioners (SICP), confirmed in an interview on Europe 1 this Tuesday his intention to join Marine Le Pen's "popular movement and Jordan Bardella » for the 2024 European elections.
Asked about his position on the list carried by Jordan Bardella for these elections scheduled for June 8 and 9, he suggested that he could appear among the first ten candidates, without however formally confirming this.
Speaking about his decision to join the National Rally, the 38-year-old police officer says he does so because he believes that it is “the only one to defend all French people of heart and mind” and that he aspires to “ change the lives of the leaders.”
Despite accusations of “double hatting” during his union mandate, Matthieu Valet rejects these allegations and claims to have been asked to leave his functions “from the first rumor” concerning his imminent membership of the National Rally. Indeed, in December 2023, he was dismissed from his position as spokesperson within the SICP.
Furthermore, Matthieu Valet also compared his journey to that of Jordan Bardella. Of Spanish origin, he describes growing up “in a 15-story tower in the North” and says: “I wasn't much, I had to fight to get what I wanted. »
By joining the RN list, Matthieu Valet seems to want to embark on a new political path, motivated by his convictions and his desire for change.
