Presidential election 2027: Marine Tondelier proposes to re-establish dialogue with the entire left wing

Marine Tondelier wants to open new discussions with all left-wing parties eight months before the presidential election. Following the failure of the joint primary project with the Socialists, the national secretary of the Greens is now proposing bilateral meetings with the Socialist Party, the Communist Party, La France Insoumise, Place Publique, and several regionalist movements. The stated objective is to discuss the party platform, electoral strategy, and the conditions necessary to avoid a further fragmentation of candidacies.

A letter co-signed by Marine Tondelier and the presidents of the Green parliamentary groups was sent to the various organizations concerned. In it, the Greens state that they do not want to impose their conditions, but rather to build a common project that meets voters' expectations. The Green leader believes that the current division risks leading to the left's elimination in the first round of the presidential election, and also weakening it in many constituencies during the legislative elections that may follow.

The Green Party leader hopes, however, that this new political space will be based on several clearly defined principles. She cites, in particular, ecological planning, a gradual phase-out of fossil fuels, the creation of a climate welfare state, a reassessment of the perpetual pursuit of growth, and the construction of a federal Europe committed to the principles of openness, solidarity, and democracy. Discussions will also need to address the exercise of power and the preparation for possible early parliamentary elections following the presidential election.

While awaiting responses from her partners, Marine Tondelier is maintaining her own candidacy for the Élysée Palace, while assuring everyone that she will not make any decisions that could favor a victory for the National Rally. The left remains particularly fragmented: Jean-Luc Mélenchon is running for La France Insoumise (LFI), François Ruffin is already campaigning, Fabien Roussel is preparing his, and the Socialist Party (PS) is considering a more limited primary with Place Publique, whose representative could be Raphaël Glucksmann. The Green initiative therefore aims to re-establish dialogue between forces that are still approaching the presidential election of April 18 and May 2, 2027, separately.
